Junior High Engineering Program
The engineering course, offered to the eighth graders, is a natural extension of Maker Space. Created around a series of complex projects that offers students the opportunity to apply mathematical and scientific principles to design and build well crafted devices. In Maker Space students are encouraged to employ a trial-and-error strategy to problem solving.
By contrast our engineering students follow a well thought out plan. They create a design and perform calculations prior to, and for the purpose of guiding the careful fabrication of parts.
Once completed the product is tested to make sure it meets the requirements of the project, and finally their results are analyzed and shared. With the difficulty of the process comes the honor. The rigorous attention to detail, perseverance, and pride in workmanship are, by themselves, worthwhile goals.
